Site Net Worth - July 2021

By now you all know why I started The Saving Dude and what we are trying to accomplish. Our monthly net worth reports are how we track progress and growth over time. In addition, they are an attempt to retain some type of accountability for contributing to this blog.

July 2021 marked our 1 year anniversary! Over the last 365 days, we have written a lot and learned even more. Later this month we will release our "Year in Review" where we will talk about all the ups and downs.

After some reflection, we plan to finally lean in again and get content rolling. I believe I have been saying this for at least a few months now, but (hopefully) I mean it this time.

The nitty-gritty is below, so check it out.

The Details:

Net Worth - $0.16

Better than last month, but still not where we want to be month over month.

Total Hours Spent: 12 hours

Trying to refocus our attention on writing more content and getting the word out there. Any help on the "getting the word out there" front that you can provide would be amazing!

Articles Written: 3 in July vs 4 in June

Income Breakdown: Trending down

$0.16 - Google Adsense

$0.00 - Affiliate Income

$0.00 - Other -this did not pop in July because I dragged my feet for a full 31 days! SMH

Alexa Site Ranking: 2,231,279 - We are falling off a cliff without a parachute here! Yikes.

Here is a quick list of what we are worked on in Ju with updates:

  1. Create a better cadence for social posting (and potentially add more to our stories) - we again posted fairly frequently on all social channels, feeling good about progress here

  2. Mix up our content types - not really enough content to say there was a "mix"

Here is a quick list of what we plan to work on in August: planning to stick with the same focus once again

  1. Create a better cadence for social posting (and potentially add more to our stories) - we have seen growing engagement with our social posts

  2. Mix up our content types - not really enough content to say there was a "mix"

2021 Goals:

  1. Get the site Alexa score down below 500k - had a setback in June and again in July

  2. Have one month where I write over 15 articles - still not getting there

  3. Make more than $50/month from affiliate partners - July was not our first month above this figure

Expenses:

$0

Summary:

July was another in a growing string of sub-par months. We need to find a way to step our game up and produce more content. In addition, our social postings aren't hitting the mark. We have considered going with paid advertising and year 2 just might be the year for it.

Now go out, set up your own blog, and try to turn it into a side hustle just like me!
