After years of hard work these folks are worth a lot of money

I know this is isn’t a normal topic you would see on a site about saving and making money to grow your net worth, but it’s something that is always interesting to me when I come across articles listing our celebrity net worth. If you read my "Why" you know that I plan to write about things that I find interesting and not necessarily any specific topics. While the focus of the site will be helping you grow your net worth at times I'll write about something fun like Jay Z being worth $1B.

Knowing Jay Z is worth $1B won’t help you save or make money. It can, however, give you something to strive for. It also gives you a sense of how hard wealth is to come by. Here is a quick example of what he had to do to make that kind of money.

Our example: Jay Z

Jay Z has been making music and diversifying his income streams for 31 years! Think about that. Half the people reading this are younger than than 31 years old. With all that hard work he recently cracked the $1 billion dollar club but still it took him 31 years to make it happen. He has made 13 albums which is like 250+ songs. Songs are not easy to write and produce. Even after all that hard work he had to create a clothing line, release a beverage line, open a restaurant, buy part of a sports team, get in to cosmetics, and so many more different ventures and it still took 31 years to compile all that wealth.

For me the main take away here is that he had his main source of income, music, for quite a while, and then he began to diversify his revenue streams. Slowly, over a long period of time, he created valuable revenue streams that really began to add up. That is something each and every one of us can aspire to, build a solid career foundation, and then when the time is right (that will vary for everyone) start to diversify your income streams.

The point I’m trying to make here is that putting together a huge net worth takes time and effort, A LOT of it. So keep working hard, follow The Saving Dude, share the ways you make and save money, and maybe we can all be billionaires, or maybe millionaires, someday.

Jeff is on here for a few reasons. Reason one, his is one of the wealthiest people in the history of humankind. He is best known for staring Amazon and selling you stuff online that quickly lands at your front door. He is less known for attending Princeton and working at a hedge fund before founding Amazon.

Elon Musk net worth - $83,000,000,000

One of the founders of PayPal, Elon Musk is a serial entrepreneur personified. After founding X.com and later turning that into PayPal with a few famous buddies Elon went on to found SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, and Neuralink, while also becoming an early investor with Solar City, a company founding by his cousins. Most of his current wealth is tied to Tesla stock, but his first hundred million was made with PayPal. Similar to our case study of Jay Z above, Elon has diversified his income streams and has been able to amass a large fortune in the process.

A huge drop off from Elon Musk to Jay Z and the reason why is because of the industries they both work in. Being an artist vs being an inventor comes with significantly different earning potential. If you look at the wealthiest artists out there today none of them hold a candle to those who have mastered finance, transportation, or internet related opportunities for wealth. While $1B is nothing to scoff at, when compared to those at the top of their game in ecomm and transportation it really pales in comparison.
